Where does the noise come from?

Hi people. While I'm considering just what case I eventually should get, I am haunted by vast amounts of noise in my current rig. I've got a Fractal Design Define R5 case, but the noise is just terrible. Can any of you be so kind as to point out where it would most likely come from? I think my CPU cooler and GPU are fairly quiet - what about the rest?

Your cpu cooler and gpu are quiet if clean, but I'm asuming you checked that.

Other noise makers are case fans, PSU fan and hard discs.
In the case of the latter it's a very specific noise and you'd probably know it was the HDD. Also, there's not one in your signature?
Your PSU is pretty decent.
So: Case fans.
Easiest would be to unplug them (no need to uninstall completely for the test) and see if it goes away. Do you just have the one that came with the case? Or do you have additional ones installed.
The fan itself could be loud or it could cause resonance in something else.

I'm going to test it as soon as I get home. Can the fans really be that noisy? Either way, I'll check it out. It's slowly giving my a headache :D Is my HDD not showing? I've got a SSD Samsung, no noise at all. I think :)

Like maarsch said, unplug one at a time to find out the noise at process of elimination. Also don't unplug your cpu fan, that'd be a bad idea for obvious reasons. If you've already narrowed it down it's either the hard disk drive hdd or psu fan. Or it could just be a loose wire or other fans around your pc. But i doubt that Noctua's aren't exactly known for making noise.

Ok, I've been listening and it SEEMS to actually be the cpu cooler - what's up with that? Doesn't make any sense, it should be quiet. Right?

Maybe the cpu cooler's fan is hitting a wire? Did you try checking the bios for the rpm speed on the fan , could be a bum fan cooler all together. Check your thermals with hwmonitor see if you're getting abnormally high temps cross reference with some you find online. Lastly maybe just get a new cooler all together hyper 212's are cheap air coolers but their a thousand times better than stock fans should see a drop in thermals they go for about 30 bucks to 20 a pop if you can find um on sale. i'd try amazon tomorrow the 15th's their 20th anniversary sale should see some cheap air coolers.

Nvm, i'd try doing an rma. Those noctuas are pretty top tier air cooler's try getting in touch with noctua about an return. Those things should be quiet.

If the fans are clean and properly connected to the heatsink a noctua should be very quiet indeed.
In case of dust: clean them
Check the connection (fans to heatsink, if you had issues with heatsink to cpu connection you'd have other issues)
But if not then indeed: RMA.
