Hey Guys,

I'm looking to build a gaming PC. I've researched a bit but just want to know if I'm missing something obvious/done something dumb with my selections below. It's been a long time since I've done something like this.

Thanks!

Pentium K G3258
GeForce Nvidia GTX 970
Samsung 850 EVO 500GB
Phanteks Enthoo Pro
ASRock Z97 anniversary LGA 1150 intel Z97

or this slightly more expensive version...

Core i5-4690K
Nvidia GTX 980
Samsung 850 EVO 500GB
Phanteks Enthoo Pro
Asus z97a

Also, I've found that the G3258 is significantly cheaper than the i5-4690K. Is it worth the extra money to get the i5 though? I know the G3258 has some good overclocking but I'm not really planning to do that.

Thanks again!

Solution
MB - With the G3258, pair it with an H97 board instead of a Z97 chipset board. The Z97 chipset is meant more for SLI / CF and overclocking a K series processor (unlocked).
CASE - That is a full tower. Be sure you want something that large.

How about something in-between those two builds? No overclocking and a single GPU...

Solution
SAdams build is solid. I'd go with that.

If you can swing it, I would definitely get the i5 over the Pentium G for an Intel build.

And a good 970 overclocked will get close to 980 performance. 980 doesn't have the headroom a 970 does and usually don't OC quite as well.
