I recently purchased a r390x. It burned up, twice to be exact. So i decided that i wanted to just go back to my 670 and save up for a 980ti. My question is this... Is there a big difference between the 980ti with core clock of 1000 and the one with core clock of 1225?

There's a HUGE difference: 1225Mhz Core clock right OOTB is very necessary if you are new to Overclocking. Even if you aren't, Overclocking to 1225 from 1000 is very tough and there is no guarantee you could do it. So always go for the highest core clock OOTB.

First, the GTX 670 & GTX 980Ti use different GPUs. As for clock speed, Most people will opt for the one with the faster speed. With an EVGA card, there is an app called PrecisionX that you can use to OC. Best to use a Non Reference card for that as they tend to have better cooling solutions. As for something noticable, somebody "might", but I doubt it. It will be noticable in Benchmarks though.

The difference is again A LOT. I myself am holding out on a new GPU purchase untill the ASUS DC3OC GTX 980 Ti comes out. Plus the 6GB VRAM will be a much better future proof than the 4GB on GTX980.

Moreover, the two GPUs are different. The 980 Ti is the Titan X with half the VRAM!!

My 670 was an EVGA and to be honest i loved it. I never had any issues with it. However I am partial to Asus. My issue with the EVGA ones right now is that they all run at around 1000-1102ish core clocks where as there is another brand, zotac i think, that is running 1222.

What is the timeframe on the asus 980ti and do they have an approx price as of yet?

Edit: Is this the card you are talking about? Asus 980 ti STRIX

Good answer. That 6 Gb of VRAM is a very good selling point. I bought a 980 SC without having looked at the 980Ti and kicked myself, as you are right about the GPU.

Ive looked up info on that Asus card but can not find anything about a release date. Rather i think i found something that says July 2015. Has it not been released yet?
