Using Vista for 5 years with no issues, suddenly it has started to boot just as usual, but then after a few minutes it reboots and this will go on and on. Disabled most of the programs that start up on boot, just left the essentials, but still no luck. Any ideas out there aside from reinstalling?

specs?
if its an intel build make sure you have HPET enabled in bios.
it will help system stability.
also a common cause of random reboots on an old machine is bad caps on the motherboard or an aging psu
so check both over for signs of wear. (swolen caps)
buzzing from the psu.

seeing I'm not there for a look see hands on sounds more like a hardware issue -- something failing or overheating causing windows to shutdown ??

5 years your at that point when things of that nature starts to pop up ? for me its a psu in 5 years but that's just me
