8GB of RAM installed on my PC but 4.00GB usable (Windows 8.1 64 bit)

Hello there
I have a problem with my ram
I have installed 8GB RAM and 4.00GB is usable
I am using Windows 8.1 64 bit
The Motherboard that i am using is MSI 760GMA-P34 (FX)
I am using 2 sticks of RAM 1600
CPU:FX 6300
GPU:Radeon HD 7870 Gigabyte OC Edition

Strange, so I'm guessing your using 2 x 4gb ram sticks? Out of interest have you tried each one on its own, do you get 4 gb showing for one stick or only 2? Do both sticks work and allow the machine to boot ok?

Try removing one stick of RAM and attempting to boot of it alone. Do this for both sticks to determine if one is bad. If both pass, you may have a problem with one of the RAM slots. To check this try booting with only one stick and alternate the RAM slot you use.

DID all the DRAM come in a single package? What model# or #s of DRAM? Are you using a third part CPU cooler?
