This answer eludes me. I have a computer monitor in my room, hooked up to the DVI port on my R9 290. I have TV in my living room hooked up to an AV Receiver (for surround) which is connected to my GPU via HDMI.

I used to just switch out the HDMI depending on which room I was in, with my computer speakers as audio output in my bedroom and the HDMI device as output in the living room.

Now I have both hooked up simultaneously, and I want Windows to play sound through my computer speakers when a program is being run on my monitor or play sound through my AV Receiver when a program is run on my TV and vice versa. This is so that a movie can be watched in the living room on those speakers while a game is played in my bedroom. The computer speakers and the HDMI device are listed as separate playback devices, but can I make each one the default for each display?

As an aside, an option to have a dedicated taskbar on both screens would be nice for similar reasons.

Thanks for your time.

The audio devices are not tied to a display but to the computer (the fact that you can route audio thru HDMI does not matter), so you are three clicks away from changing your default playback device (or find video player which can be configured to play on specific audio device, and leave default to your computer speakers).
