Xfire HD5770 or time for upgrade?

Hey all,

I've had a trusty dynamic duo until now, my quad core Phenom II 955 BE and ATI Radeon HD 5770 had no troubles playing Crysis 2 on max settings, and Battlefield 4 and DarkSouls 2 at full fps. But alas, we have met our match with our latest purchase: "Ark: Survival Evolved."

It's running under 30fps even with settings on low, even in menus and just barely moving. For those of you who are not familiar with the game it is still in early access and therefore isn't optimized, but still my friends are getting much better framerates than me. I will fiddle around with the settings some more but until then...

Would it make sense at all to XFire two HD 5770's? Or should I bite the bullet and invest in a new card? I've done some research and was thinking maybe an R7 260X would be a good idea, but if I can save $150 and just get a second used 5770 to crossfire, would that be sufficient?

I'm sorry I don't have the recommended specs for Ark, but I do remember the minimum being 4GB ram (I have 8) and a dual core processor in the 3ghz range (mine is quad 3.2ghz). Also, I have a 450w PSU for reference.

Thoughts, flames, ideas? Thanks!

Solution
Ark is horribly unoptimized, I struggle to run it on low-med with a 3570k and 270X, also the game almost definitely won't have very good crossfire support.

I didn't even think about whether games would support xfire. Great point. Smorizio, I plan on getting an i5 once I have some money coming in, but I'm effectively unemployed for the summer so I was looking for the cheapest short term route for now.

Thanks guys.
