I recently installed a g3258 and an ASRock z97 anniversary. during the installation i performed a clean install of windows 7 home premium on my SSD.

The system crashes frequently mostly when operating within windows related services. windows update seems to trigger the freezing 9/10 times.

Since seeing these issues i have performed many more clean installs of windows due to corrupt updates and failed system restorations. I believe my issues lies in a faulty motherboard or perhaps an issue with my windows disc? i have used the disc before with success but it is a bit scratched possibly corrupting some data? Is it possible a faulty HDD could be the cause?

Ok I ran Memtest overnight and it reported no errors. Does that software test the motherboard at all or only the ram?

I also ran intel cpu diagnostics with no errors. im starting to think my windows is just corrupt. Any idea where to download windows from now that microsoft no longer provides that service?
