HI, I just replaced my Core 2 Quad Q8220 with a Xeon E5450 in my Intel DG41WV motherboard. I reset my bios using a jumper on the mobo and I had a black screen for about 5 minutes before it eventually booted. I went into computer properties and it said I still had a Q8200, where CPU-Z said I had the Xeon but was only running at 2.4ghz. I ran battlefield 4 and I had less performance than my Core 2 Quad so I rebooted the PC and now it won't boot at all. Any help will be much appreciated.

Well, the simple fact is that it is not booting now, so something has gone wrong. Faults are not always immediately apparent.

I'm not convinced that you can trust these sort of hacks in the long run (or even the short run).

Just did a full bios reset and booted into Windows 7 instead of 8 (dual boot) and now it's running perfectly, for now atleast.
