Hi, I've recently put a cd/dvd drive into my pc it works properly except that it wont run any disc's which means that I'm unable to install my motherboard driver and install a few games that I'd like to, anybody know what the issue is here? I'm also not sure on the make of it unfortunately.

There is a LED light on the front of the drive, does it light up when the system boots up or anything? Does the drawer open? have you checked all of your connections?

Ok so then next what happens when you put a disc in the drive, I'm assuming it does not autorun. Does the CD drive icon change in my computer? Can you double click on it after inserting a disc?

Ok so did you replace another CD drive with this one? Is this a new build? how did you do the operating system install?
I have a feeling the drive is defective, as it should not freeze the computer. You can download your motherboard drivers direct from the manufacturer (and they are probably newer) and try installing those first as they may clear the issue.
