don't know - for me and its all personal opinion I prefer the asrocks -- why not lok at there extreme boards like the extreme 6 ?

one thig I also don't care for it the killer lan -- its quailcom stuff and can be kinda proprietary - I prefer boards with intel or realtek lans [opinion]

for the most part what I feel is best or what he feels is best is all personal opinion and own user experience ..

just because 100 folks tell you its great you may find for you its not so ??

you have to base things on what you feel are your needs and choose on that and hope it fills them as you expect it to ..

like I said you got to do your homework on the parts , cut through the hype , read between the lines ,decide and add to cart and hope...
the x seems to have more features do a side by side spec comparison as I did and see whats listed from each board ??

as far as oc ability they should be about the same and don't think you would gain on that part bios wise ???

all that comes down to homework on the boards and what ''you' feel is best for ''you'' and your needs at the price points

the big + for the z97x is the slots the z97x supports NVidia sli and amd x-fire the plain z97 does not. only amd x-fire
