Is a SATA3 SSD worth it with a SATA2 motherboard?

I have recently been looking at the Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD. I have a SATA2 motherboard but the SSD is SATA3. I know it is compatible because my HDD is SATA3, but is it worth it? My current results from CrystalDiskMark4 say that my read speed is 113.6 MB/s and my write speed is 110.2 MB/s. Should I buy it or should I buy a new motherboard first?

Solution
You would definitely benefit from adding an ssd to your system. SSD's have very low latency which would be the main benefit although they also have faster read/write throughput, but that likely wouldn't be as noticeable on a daily basis.

You would need to install your OS onto the SSD to get the most benefit from it.
