I am planning to build my very first PC to be specific for gaming. It will be my first time building a desktop and still studying on how to do it. I am planning to buy MSi Z97 Gaming 3 for motherboard and i5-4460 for processor. I looked for the motherboard's supported memory and i found a lot of freq compatible with it but I saw some freq with * like 1866* and more then at the end was (*OC). Can a Kingston HyperX Fury 4GB DDR3 Desktop Memory (Blue) with 1866 MHz freq work well with the motherboard or I'll just go for the 1600 MHz instead?

That motherboard will be complete overkill without a CPU you can overclock. I would suggest you look at H97 motherboards for a appropriate option.

Also, 8GB of RAM is the general recommendation for gaming.

But to answer your question, that motherboard can handle up to 3300 RAM speed.

Yeah, I forgot to say it but I was planning to buy 2 memories for a total of 8 GB. Thanks for the response!

Don't buy memory in separate pieces. You always want to buy your RAM in kits, as even mixing the same model memory from different kits won't always work. Buy a single dual-channel 8GB kit (aka 2x4GB) if you're going for 8GB of RAM so you don't run into problems down the road.

Thanks men! Another pointers for my list. I thought buying memory with the same model and tech specs is the same but it will be better if I will buy in kits. You're very helpful!
