Using Comcast modem/router vs my own.

So recently I noticed my download speeds are not what they normally are, they're usually around 25-35 mbps down and 10-15 mbps up which is okay.
But since I moved to my new place my speeds have been around 10-15 mbps down and 10-12 mbps up which is fine but I know my mother and I pay for faster speeds ( Yeah I still live with my mother).
I decided to fiddle with my modem/router an Arris TG862G and my Linksys E2500 router. I disconnected my Linksys router and just used an ethernet cable with a laptop and wow I didn't know I could get around 90mbps down (I'm assuming it's because I moved from a rural area to a developing city), up speeds were the same.
Anyways to speed this story up I disconnected my Linksys router and turned off the bridge on the modem and I'm using it as a router as well since my speeds went from 15mbps down with my Linksys router to 60-70 mbps down wireless with just the Arris modem/router.

But here's my concern (Yes it may be dumb, yes I ask a lot of dumb questions but atleast I have answers!) will it be easier for Comcast to monitor what I do and download just using their equipment vs using my own router.

Also would there be anyway for me to get similar speeds on my own router?

everything initially goes thru their equipment once it leaves your house anyways so they already know what sites you go for, what you are uploading and downloading. adding a home router does nothing to hide this otherwise it would never make it back to you. So just keep using their model/router as long as it works well.
