USB 2.0 standard can theoretically transfer data at a very high 480 megabits per second (mbps), or 60 megabytes per second (MBps). That's impressive, but not as much as the newer USB 3.0, which can handle up to 5gbps (640MBps)

Question: I downloaded the ps4 update which says 900MB (https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/system-updates/ps4/)
of free space is needed. It didn't take a long time but was about 4 minutes I was using a USB 3.0 flash drive on a laptop. I'm not sure but I think the USB ports are 2.0 on the laptop but is that slow to download that to the USB flash drive or normal? Trying to understand better thank you!

Solution
Just because a device(or bus) is capable of a certain theoretical speed doesn't mean that all the speed will be utilized for everything you do. There are other things involved that could be slower - HDD.s, Internet, local network.

This statement does not make sense.

900 megabytes of drive space (0.9gigabytes), or 900 megabits per sec, or 900 megabytes per sec, download or transfer speed.

But....that theoretical USB transfer speed is dependent on many factors.
One large file will be faster than a bunch of tiny files equaling the same total size.
