Building a New PC with i7-4790K, GTX 970 - does this build look okay?

Hello,

I want to make a new PC mostly for online gaming (MMOs) and some photoshop work. I've done quite a lot of research into the components and used PCPartPicker which tells me everything is compatible but I would really appreciate some confirmation of this from a real human! I've never built a PC before so it's a bit scary.

My HDD and optical drives in my current PC are working fine so I plan to reuse these unless there is a burning reason not to do so. I am considering a SDD for the OS in future but don't think its essential to be done now.

The build then is this:
CPU - Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler - Noctua NH-D14 65.0 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard - MSI Z97-GAMING 5 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Memory - Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory (is it worth getting 16gb at this point?)
Video Card - MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card
Case - Fractal Design Define R4 (Titanium Grey) ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply - Corsair CSM 650W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply
Case Fan - Fractal Design SSR3-140-WT 56.1 CFM 140mm Fan (case comes with front and back fans, I'd like to add this to the lower front of the case to increase airflow from front to back)
Total: £853.31

Old components being reused:
Hard Drive: 1TB S-ATAIII 6.0Gb/s
Optical Drive: 22x DVD±RW DL S-ATA

Any reassurance that this is a successful build, or feedback and suggestions is welcomed.

Thanks v. much! :)

Solution
If you don't intend to overclock, take a look at this:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor (£196.14 @ Scan.co.uk)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler (£24.95 @ Aria PC)
Motherboard: MSI H97 PC MATE ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£61.16 @ Scan.co.uk)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£38.63 @ Amazon UK)
Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory (£39.00 @ Ebuyer)
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£47.98 @ Amazon UK)
Video Card:...
If overclocking is not a priority, then get a cheaper, but decent, CPU cooler and throw in an SSD for a Windows boot drive.

Thank you for the suggestion of the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. I've read some reviews and it does look like this would be a much cheaper option that will still meet my needs.

In terms of upgrading to an SSD now instead of waiting a while, how much benefit could I expect to see in day to day stuff?

Thanks v much

No reason for an unlocked chip and/or a Z97 motherboard if you don't intend to overclock. Swapped out that junk PSU as well.

An SSD just makes everything zippier. Boot and load times almost always see gains as well.

The GTX 970 is great for 1080p gaming. If you will not overclock, then this is a better option.
