So I am having a problem deciding between these three mobos.
Asus Z97-AR (~150$)
Gigabyte G1.Sniper Z97 (~140$)
Asus Sabertooth Z97 Mark 1 (~250$)

I plan to pair my choice with an i5 4690k Devil's Canyon

The main goal of my build is for gaming. Now I realize the price range between the Sabertooth and the other two mobos is about 100 dollars, my problem is that my friend has the Sabertooth and he loves it. Swears by it and says I would be a fool to buy any other mobo. My questions is if it is worth it to pay the extra 100 dollars for the Sabertooth or if I would be fine with one of the other two. Does the price difference really justify buying the Sabertooth over either of the other two? I do want something that I'm going to be able to use for a while that isnt too extremely expensive. Thoughts?

With the Hero you save money towards a better GPU and PSU upgrade from the Antec VP450.
I decided for the first time to buy a very nice board. I got the Asus Maximums VI Formula. Was way more than I ever paid but it is a very nice board. It feels like quality.

The Sabertooth is a board designed for stability, durability and reliability. I have had nothing but good comments from people who own them.

Sometimes you need to treat yourself to something nice. Honestly if you feel it is too expensive then maybe you shouldn't.

I will say in over ten years of building PCs, and a few building and repairing for a shop, I have never had an Asus board fail me or not live a long productive life.

I was just looking at the Asus Maximus VII Hero, it seems like a good mobo for gaming and it is relatively inexpensive.

Oh and the rest of the specs on my build (It's my first custom build) are:

GTX 750 Ti (I originally bought to build a budget gaming pc, under 400 dollars, but will be upgrading in the future obviously)

Kingston Hyper X Blu 8 GB (2x4GB Modules) 1600MHz DDR3

Seagate Barracuda ES 1 TB 7200RPM (Plan on getting an SSD at some point)

Antec VP-450 450 Watt (I think I may need to upgrade to around 600 Watt also)

Fractal Design Define R4 Black Window

I am very inclined to get an Asus mobo because I have hear nothing but good things about them. There are just so many to choose from its hard.

The Hero is also a good board, as I said Asus is a great brand.

That PSU is a Tier 3. That means it is middle of the pack, ok but not great. I always suggest a Tier 2 and more power than you need as that will allow the PSU to run more efficiently and extend its life. Remember most PSUs are their most efficient at 50% load, the closer to 100% you get the less efficient it gets and the warmer it runs causing a lower life.
