As the title says, I'm having trouble updating KB2952664. It fails with error code 8004402F.
Anyway, I've tried a few things - Using Microsoft Fix-It, making sure no other programs are running (using msconfig - I disabled only 3rd party programs and services not related to running Windows itself), uninstall the update via the control panel, reboot & run Windows update again (in my search for help elsewhere, I mentioned a lot of people suggesting this), even downloading the update manually & installing (I thought it may be something to do with the Windows Update program).
NONE of those have worked. According to this article, I need this update in order to upgrade to Windows 10 for free.
I looked at the Event Viewer, but it didn't show much except for what I already know (the update failed to install, according to the message. Gee, that's very helpful! ). For what it's worth, here is the log:
I'm only doing this because when I tried to reserve my copy, I didn't see the icon in the system try to do so, so I looked at the link I mentioned above.
Could somebody please help a frustrated computer user? Thanks!
My system specs, if It matters:
Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P motherboard
AND FX-8320
MSI R9 270X Gaming 2 G
8 GB RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)

...Besides requiring Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 Update, you must also have installed:
For Windows 7 SP1:
KB3035583 (I already have this one.)
KB2952664
