As the title says, I'm having trouble updating KB2952664. It fails with error code 8004402F.

Anyway, I've tried a few things - Using Microsoft Fix-It, making sure no other programs are running (using msconfig - I disabled only 3rd party programs and services not related to running Windows itself), uninstall the update via the control panel, reboot & run Windows update again (in my search for help elsewhere, I mentioned a lot of people suggesting this), even downloading the update manually & installing (I thought it may be something to do with the Windows Update program).

NONE of those have worked. According to this article, I need this update in order to upgrade to Windows 10 for free.

...Besides requiring Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 Update, you must also have installed:

For Windows 7 SP1:

KB3035583 (I already have this one.)

KB2952664

I looked at the Event Viewer, but it didn't show much except for what I already know (the update failed to install, according to the message. Gee, that's very helpful! :sarcastic:). For what it's worth, here is the log:

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8004402f: Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2952664).

I'm only doing this because when I tried to reserve my copy, I didn't see the icon in the system try to do so, so I looked at the link I mentioned above.

Could somebody please help a frustrated computer user? Thanks!

Solution
Reboot a couple of times to try to clear out any other installs that are pending. Also, try again in a day or two as they are currently working on switching over the Windows 10 delivery system to the production channel and may be making other changes in the back end.

if you google it [ KB2952664 ] you will se a lot of failed updating of it

also its not one you need to start with so just click on it in windows update and select '' hide update '' and its gone until you recall it

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2952664

Microsoft is in such big need for you to upgrade to 8 -8.1 or 10 they will cram a few more updates like this one down your throat -- they tried to trick me into installing 3 in one day

good luck

p.s the one that gives you that icon starts with kb3xxxxxx
