flash drives won't work

I've never had any problems with flash drives until recently when I purchased a 64GB and a 128GB. My PC doesn't recognize either of them. The 128GB worked off and on but now, no matter if I put it in a hub or into a USB port, neither of them will come up. I hate to say it but I'm done with flash drives as I had a lot of important items on them and when I saw the big one going bad, I hurried up and moved as many documents as I could before it quit working again. I read where a lot of companies aren't loading them right so they're bound to give out sooner than later. What happened to the good ole days..... -:( I've used flash drives all my life but ever since I installed Windows 8.1 I've had all sorts of problems. I never spent this much time trying to keep my computer going when I had Windows Vista or Windows XP. Almost every day I have some sort of problem that pops up despite my efforts to run my scans and do what I can to keep my PC optimized ..... starting to get very depressing.

Solution
Return the flash drives under warranty, as for your data, you been around long enough to know your important data needs to be backed up and the more copies you have of it the safer it is.
Sorry to be crude.

You are right. However, I could make 10 copies of something and still lose them all as nothing in life is guaranteed. I do have most of what was on the big drive and the smaller drive never did work, so there was nothing to back up. As far as being crude, I guess I had that coming, but sometimes a little finesse wouldn't hurt as I'm fully aware everything needs to be backed up these days and it's always been this way. But I never got a chance to back up information to that file; the second time I went to back up some more is when it started not working so I started pulling things off it as I knew there was something wrong with it. I had never had problems with flash drives which is not to say I never would, but ironically, and maybe coincidentally, ALL of my problems started after I was pretty much forced to get Windows 8.1. I didn't want it but life is full of changes, although I do feel this is not one of Microsoft's finer moments, as I've never seen the forums so full of desperate people searching for answers they will be lucky to find an answer as 8.1 truly is way more technical than any of the other versions Microsoft came out with. I have spent hundreds of hours myself searching for tech answers so I understand their desperation and frustration when they can't find what they're looking for. Thank you for replying ......... I do appreciate it.
