Hi,
So I plan on overclocking my gtx 970. I do have some experience overclocking fermi and kepler gpus but its been a while... I want to know is it safe to just leave my power limit at 120%, my gpu is the asus strix version... Also is it safe to leave the power limit at 120 when not overclocked, to maybe let gpu boost work its thing at higher oc??

Solution
Yes, it's safe and actually recommended. Your power limit will never be reached, as you'll reach your Temp and Voltage limits before you ever push your Power limit.

Well, regarding never reaching the power limit, that might not be true. Under full load my card's temp is maxed out at 74c but the power limit has been reached, where it's trying to reach 127% of the power limit according to the furmark overlay and hwmonitor. Wish i could raise the power limit more without a custom vbios
