Hi guys, I realized that i couldn't smoothly run a lot of the newer games with medium/high graphic settings(ex: witcher3, gta5, battlefield:hardline). That is why i am looking for an upgrade.

My top choice is MSI GTX970 100ME, but i am also willing to upgrade to if my other spec of the PC is good enough to last me another 3-4 years, if not i will just stick with a gtx970 and just build a new system when the time comes.

So here are my question:
1. Should i just get a gtx970 or i should consider getting the next tier cards?

2. I see that my PSU only comes with 6pins PCI-E power connectors and some of the cards requires 8pins, so do i need a new PSU to run those cards?

3. is it worth it to get the gaming version of those cards(ex: Asus Strix, Msi Gaming, Gigabyte G1) or a normal version should have the same or close performance as their gaming versions?

Thanks!

my current pc spec:

CPU- i5 3570k + H80i
Mobo- Asus P8Z77-V
RAM- 16GB (4x4GB) Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600mhz
GPU- Asus HD 7870 2GD5 V2
HD - 2x Crucial M4 128GB (Raid 0) + Samsung 128GB SSD + WD 1TB 7200rpm
PSU- 750w Thermaltake Smart SP-750M
Monitor: BenQ Xl2430XT 144HZ

The pcie 6 pins is usually also 8pin versions. you just need to use all 8 for some graphics cards and 6 for others. Just open your case and make sure it has at least one 6pin and one 8pin pcie power connector.
Are you dead set on a GTX 970 or is an AMD radeon R9 290 or 290X also an option?
It is totally your choice if you want the Gaming versions of the cards. I would say it is a waste of money because you don't get much more performance for your extra money.
If you have the money right now to upgrade you could do it. Or you could just play games at lower settings and wait a year or two and build a complete new system. I would say go for the GPU upgrade and then next year or so you could upgrade your CPU and motherboard to the new...

I recommend getting the gtx 970 as long as you only play in 1080p as it is a very smooth card that can pretty much max out all games at 1080p,
don't worry about your power supply it is definitely good enough to run this card, your power supply if im right comes with 6+2 pin connectors so it is great enough for it and it defiantly has enough power to run it too :D.

Personal i would to go for msi as in my opinion it has the best overclocking software withit :)
