Hi there,

i'm looking for the cheapest mobo that supports 1866 and even better more mhz ddr3 ram. Pc partpickers kind of suck in this. So far i got ASROCK Z97 Anniversary, but maybe there are cheaper ones? I ordered 8GB Kingston ddr3 1866 stick which i suppose could be overclocked even higher so i don't want to waste it with 1600 MHz mobo.

Correct, it has to be 1150. And thank you for the suggestion, the price is awesome! I didn't even know about these boards...which is probably because unfortunately they aren't available in our country (Czech Rep.) : /

This is false. http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Detail.aspx?DetailID=1501&CategoryID=1&MenuID=172&LanID=0

Supports DDR3 1600/1333 non-ECC, Un-buffered SDRAM Memory

H81 chipset does not support speeds past 1600. ECS boards are not very good either.

If you are going to buy a Z97 board, I would at least buy one with SLI support.

Well, at least i won't be sad i can't get it :D And about SLI, i think i won't need it either because i'm buying i5 4690K which i don't know if it's good enough for dual GPU set up. And even if it is, my rig isn't supposed to be a gaming rig...rather music production oriented. And if i will actually want to play games, i'll just throw one quality gpu at it and i'm good (i mean i dont need to play all on ultra). So if anybody reads this, SLI don't have to be a factor.

And btw. i have no idea how i ended up in a "Systems" category. It should have been in Motherboards :heink: So can anyone move it there please?

4690k is definitely good enough for dual GPU. Since that is not a concern for you, then this board would be ok, as it reviewed well. Normally I prefer SLI capable boards, as most have 8 phase power, for overclocking. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/asrock-z97m-pro4-motherboard,4180.html

Aha, so it was about the phase power design..Is it any relevant that i intend to OC just slightly? I don't wanna go for like 4.5 or higher. Max. 4.4 on air. And i've heard Hasswell chips has build in volt control or what...which kind of enable it to OC even on cheaper boards with not so good phase power design. For example this dude is talking about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ih0161elYSc

What do you think?
