Strange thing happened when i woke up, cellphone was turned off and when i turned it on i had 1% left. I generally keep the phone charged and with a bit of help from an app i keep the WiFi/Data turned off so i don't lose battery charge. Unfortunately i think that something happened to the cellular signal which is the probable cause of the battery drain as it's not typical to lose 70% overnight let alone within a few days of non use. Phone has Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. Either i have to shut off the phone or maybe use airplane mode which i'll miss any calls but at least i'll have a charge on my phone. The problem is that if it's the cellular signal trying to boost itself, what can be done to stop it from boosting when you don't want it to, is there an app for this?

be careful over charging it can damage the cells just as badly as letting the phone die completley repeatedly doing that is bad. You wanna find the sweet spot maybe charge to about 95% and let it drop down to 20-10 percent then charge it back up. That said could be a faulty battery, i advise to conj-our up a credit card and hunt for a battery on ebay. Gl.

Because i don't want to fry the battery having it sit on the charger all night, even though that will probably never happen. Regardless, leaving the battery charged at 100% for too long wears it out over time, just as bad as discharging it beyond 40%.
I found out it was the phone's radio signal that is draining power, at medium signal level it seems to be ok but if i get a low signal it'll start draining the battery a bit heavily. For now i'm going to leave the phone turned off at night.

I always keep it around 40-80% regularly charging it from 60-80%, anyway the heavy discharge was due to a weak radio signal.

Why don't you just have the signal go through the wifi instead. Maybe turn off the 3g/4g/2g signal and just have the wifi on that way if you need a call to come you'll get it and you won't be killing your battery, though if you're not charging at night an dont wanna use drain the power thats fine too.
