Hello tom's hardware, im really gonna rely on you guys for this one (always helped me in the past so much!)

I just built my first PC last night and only had the SSD plugged in and then installed windows as usual no problem. I played with it, installed basic drivers, and all while being sooo fast; I loved it!

Now the issue: i have 2 one TB drives from a previous pc (yes they work no problem). I installed these drives into the pc, plugged them in, and pressed power on. Upon pressing power, it stays on the "Asus" boot logo and a spinning loading icon for a veeery long time (like around 10-15 mins). After which, sometimes it makes to the desktop and again, its nice and super fast.

Moreover, in "This PC" the two installed drives are not listed as well. Lastly, when I click "shut down" (if it does shut down this century) it takes a very long time as well.

If you guys have any tips, troubleshooting, or help I will love you sooo much! I just wanna enjoy my new PC so badly. :*( [if u help me out and happen to live in indy, ill buy you a beer! and yes im that desperate for my baby to work]

tl;dr --> clean installed windows 8.1 on SSD and became awesome/mega fast. Afterwards, installed HDDs and made pc meeeeega slow on boot up and shut down only. Drives do not appear in "My Computer/This PC"

u can acces your drives via device manager... try manage them there...
if u have old programs and os there might be issue too...
i would store all needed data elsewhere and format them, coz older sistem worked on fat23, nowdays on ntfs protocol... might be issue there too....
wish u best luck, vili
Welcome to the community, heavyp08!

I'd suggest you to try using a different SATA cable for those HDDs or even try them on a different computer and see how the other system would react to them. Another thing that might help you determine if there's anything wrong with them is connecting them externally via SATA-to-USB cable or a docking station. This way you'd be able to test them using their manufacturer's diagnostic tool and see what the SMART data says about their health.

Give it a try and let me know how it goes! :)
