Hi, the fan inside the unit seems to be making clicking sounds. It isn't really loud, but still noticeable. Initially, I thought this was coming from my hard drive because the noise sounds a lot like a hard drive reading / writing data. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. I unplugged the HDD and all fans in the system, leaving me with the PSU fan. I turned eco mode on, which stopped the fan and the noise is gone for now. Is it safe to use this mode? I only ask because the fan isn't spinning at all. I even tried running prime95 and msi kombustor at the same time and the fan still doesn't turn on with eco mode enabled.

Solution
If the psu is still in warranty I'd rma it if it not you could try lubricating it if that doesn't fix the issue you'll need to replace the psu's fan

I was thinking about lubricating it with some machine oil, but wouldn't that void the 10 year warranty?
Edit: I'm trying to avoid an RMA unless necessary. If it can operate fine in eco mode, I'm okay with that.

What about using eco mode? Can I leave this turned on without damaging the unit? I guess the reason why the fans didn't turn on is because it's still under low load. I don't think I use more than 600W at full load. I don't have an SLI/Crossfire setup.

Not sure if this will help but here are my specs:
EVGA GTX 780
ASUS P8Z68-V LE
i7 2600k
DVD ROM
2TB HDD
SSD 840 EVO
6 120mm fans

I opened the PSU and applied a couple drops of machine oil under the fan's sticker. Fortunately, the noise is gone. It even improved airflow. If it happens again I'll replace the fan with a compatible model. However, the fan is soldered onto the board so it would be a bit more tedious to do. I didn't want to RMA it because every time I deal with EVGA I get a new problem when I receive my replacement.

Well there goes your 10 years warranty but then again it's not your fault who could live with a pc without a month unless they have a back up psu if you ever need to replace the fan make sure to get the same size as the pervious fan , same voltage & same blades because the new fan I replaced it with had more blades so it was hitting the psu's grill so had to take it off & if your fan is soldered onto the board you can cut the fan's wire with a wire cutter & the new fan will be 3 pin you'll need to cut off the connector off the new fan , cut off the yellow wire & solder the black ( ground) wire with the black one & the red ( 5v) with the red one & I recommend using heat shrink not electrical tape , I prefer Noctoua fans
