Just bought an SSD need advice

So I recently bought an Samsung 850 evo 250 gb SSD my question in particular is regarding data transfer. At the moment I have a 1 TB seagate HD but the only thing i want to transfer to my SSD is the OS Windows 7 so it could run faster. Is just transferring just the OS possible? Should i wait 2 more weeks and wait for Windows 10 to come out and install it then? I don't really have another HD to back up my data so i feel like im playing with fire. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As above, you can't clone only the OS.

Ways ahead?
Wait until your device can upgrade to Windows 10.
Do the upgrade
Obtain the ISO file that will supposedly be available
Create Windows 10 boot media, DVD or USB
Install that clean OS on the SSD
