So my 3 month old custom gaming pc that I built has been having some performance issues recently, it's been going on for a while and I have no idea what is causing it. I get framerate issues in most games which I should be able to run on high-ultra easily.

Specs:

Mobo: Gigabyte H97-Gaming 3
CPU: intel core i5 4690k (no OC)
GPU: asus gtx 970 strix
RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz ripjaws
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro
HDD: 2TB WD green
120GB Kingston SSD
Monitors: Acer V203HL 20" 1600x900
Philips 191V 18.5" 1366x768
PSU: Corsair CS Series Modular CS650M - 650W 80 PLUS Gold

I'm pretty sure my drivers and OS are up to date and I can't think of anything that would be causing this.

Thanks for reading, hopefully you guys know what's going on.

Pretty much every game, at the moment I've been playing a game called trove. Which is a voxel based games and definitely shouldn't be lagging but it doesn't run smoothly and goes to about 45 ish, I can't get fraps to work with it so I don't have an accurate fps reading.

Some of the games are installed on the WD and some on the SSD, it doesn't seem to make a difference.
Last time I checked was when I was having issues playing warframe (would run at 60 smoothly but drop down to 35-45 frequently) and my core temps were around 60 ish. GPU depends on what I'm playing from 50-65.
And my room is pretty cold most of the time but it is winter here at the moment.

Don't think so but I'll do some scans anyway.

I did a full system scan with malwarebytes and avira and neither came back with anything.
