Toshiba 2tb external harddisk

There is no definitive answer to that question since some people have had good experience with Toshiba externals, whilst others have found that they stopped working within a year (as indeed did mine) so I only buy WD externals now and I've no regrets about that.

I bought 3 WD externals (I like to keep multiple backups) over four years ago and they've been utterly reliable and still going strong.

The only brand I would recommend for externals is WD obviously.

Another brand of externals to avoid is Seagate - - similar story to Toshiba - - poor reliability and/or short life, I know because I've previously used Seagate externals too. I think I got around 8 months use out of my last Seagate before it rolled over and died on me.
