hello,

i have a powerline network in my house,
1 in the basement for the data (input)
1 downstairs (lan 3 ports)
1 upstairs (wifi + 2 ports 1 of those is also a wan port)
1 upstairs (lan 3 ports)

in the setup menu of the wifi one there is an option for wan, but it doesn't work, it still uses the data from the powerline network, not from the ethernet cable i plug in the wan port.

and also, is there a way for a powerline to stay disconnected from the network, so i can use one of the 3 port adapters as a switch?

i have no idea what the hardware inside is, they are all 4 from the same brand and i will search in the setup for the manufacturers.

any help is welcome!

model number wifi adapter (according to the software): GPN2.8P61A-C

it seems impossible to attach any pictures from your system, so i will type it out:
3 port lan adapter:
Model: PLC500SPT

wifi adapter:
Model: PLCNA500W

Solution
First, using one port of a device doesn't make it a switch -- there is nothing to connect between. If you need a switch -- buy a $15 gigabit switch.

You will need to provide manufacturer and model for each model of powerline adapters you have. The "GPN2.8P61A-C" suggests an Actiontec model but that might be incorrect.

thanks captain obvious, thats why it has 3 ports. and i already have one switch, but that one is already in use.

the reason i wanted to use a powerline adapter (with 3 ethernetports) as a switch is because i am not using it now, and i have used it before as a switch. i only need 2 ports, because i am just using it to extend a ethernet cable.

i will add a image from them in a few minutes
update: i am not able to upload pictures for attachment, so i typed it out in the main post
