I recently trashed my motherboard (involved a glass of wine). I've ordered a new one from overclockers but it won't arrive until next week. In the meantime I bought a cheap ASUS H81M-PLUS which seems to be working OK. I didn't check for RAID support when I bought it however (assuming they all had it these days) and apparently it doesn't.

Is it correct to say that there's no software RAID solution (Windows 8.1) I can use? The motherboard must support it and that's that?

I have two data drives in RAID-0 from the previous PC that Windows is obviously unable to see (it sees both individual drives, but insists I need to format one of them and put a boot record on the other - my guess is if I do either of those things I'll trash my array).

Ohhh. Your drive is reading as RAW format. Do you have anything of value on those drives? Because before they can be used now they have to formatted. Unless you have another RAID controller to try hooking them up to.

Ok. I assume that I'll be able to read them when I get the new motherboard with RAID controller next week. This is just a temporary motherboard until it arrives and I was hoping there would be a temporary solution to read them.
