Will the FX 6300 bottleneck the R9 380?

To know if it was the CPU or the GPU that was the weak link, we would have to know what the CPU usage vs GPU usage was during that run. But the FX-6300 was made for OC'ing. From my own experience with both a FX-6300 and FX-6350 (both OC'ed), I feel the FX-6300/6350 is maxed out with the R9-280 or GTX 960. Especially if you are gaming online on a busy 64 player server.

You will get some bottleneck but better performance than this guy in video.
When i try to record GTA with MSI Afterburner i lost 20 fps.
You can set all on Very High/Ultra in GTA V with r9 380 4gb version and turn off MSAA or 2x and you will stay at 60 or above FPS.
OCing my FX 6300 from stock to 4.5 Ghz gave me nice FPS boost in GTA V.
GO with R9 380 and dont worry about this guy video.
Just from X8 MSAA and Recording he lost more than 50 FPS.

You can't really judge by CPU ... though it does like multiple threads.

'Very High Textures' with MSAAx4 is a frame-killer. You will also suffer a serious dink at x2 but it is much more manageable. Ideally with very high textures you should dump MSAA altogether and simply go FXAA.

Or MSAAx2 and normal textures if you 'must'

Your FX-6300 at 3.9- to 4GHz should have no problems with any card you care to pair it with ... preferably one with 3GB or more of VRAM.

Why 3GB of VRAM?
I've seen tests between the 2gb and the 4gb and to be honest, there wasn't that big of a difference.
Sure, the 2GB version had a stutters on VRAM hog games like Unity, which is a glitch filled & poorly optimized game to begin with.

When you crank the textures to the max VRAM can exceed 3GB at higher resolutions. I believe, however, there are options to limit buffering which will not exceed specified limits --- even for 2GB cards.

This is an issue really if you crank the MSAA and very high textures, which is going to kill your frame rates, anyway ...

I'm not certain, but I believe there are also FoV mods which can bump -or thump- your frame rates.

Alright then, should I just go with an R9 280 3GB?
Because there is a huge money gap between the 380 2GB and 4GB

This is kinda late, but i have an FX 6300 + R9 380, And i have solid 40/50 FPS, sadly i didnt buy the correct MOBO, i bought a wrong chipset, but once i get my hands on a Chipset 970/990FX, it will reach 60/adobe easily.

MOBO i bought, M5AL78, now ill go for a; M5A99FX PRO R2.0 both Asus.
