Hello, I'm building a PC for my father who will use it to watch Netflix, check email and play solitaire. The only real requirements are to be as cheap as possible, have an HDMI out and he wants a quad core processor. I used pcpartpicker.com and relied heavily on their compatibility check and came up with this.
AMD A10-5800K 3.8GHz Quad-Core Processor
https://pcpartpicker.com/part/amd-cpu-ad580kwohjbox
Asus A88X-PLUS ATX FM2+ Motherboard
https://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-a88xplus
G.Skill Ripjaws Z Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2400 Memory
https://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f32400c10d8gzh
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
https://pcpartpicker.com/part/western-digital-internal-hard-drive-wd10ezex
Enermax ECA3212-BL ATX Mid Tower Case
https://pcpartpicker.com/part/enermax-case-eca3212bl
EVGA 400W ATX Power Supply
https://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-100n10400l1
The problems I'm having are:
First, the documentation that came with the motherboard says that it accepts DDR3 2400(OC) I've read a few different posts, but I'm confused. Can I use these ram chips with this mobo, without getting into overclocking?
And second, The power supply doesn't seem to have the correct output connections. It has the 20+4 connector, but the mobo apparently needs another 4 pin connector.
So my questions are:
Will this system work as is?
Is it dangerous to turn the power on if the mobo and PSU are incompatible?
If I need to replace something, what should I replace, the PSU and RAM chips, or the mobo?
Thanks for any advice you can give.
