Is this a decent and relatively future proof build?

Any bottle necks or other issues?

I've assembled this via pcczone.com - I don't have the patience to build my own so I was looking into this.

Yeah especially when a new Intel socket and motherboard with new USB and faster integrated LAN are coming within a couple of weeks now. And I agree that the DVD writer - while not...

Not terrible, but nothing is "future-proof."

That RAM is pretty expensive, there's cheaper options at the same amount (~$100). I'd say R9 290x > GTX 970 if it's cheaper or the same price (but only if the 290x has an after-market cooler). If you expect to overclock hard, that motherboard won't be top notch (small heatsinks). Are the DVD writer and wifi card necessary? Wired is better for gaming by a long shot. Also, that CPU cooler is about the same price as some bigger radiators. I'd recommend a 240mm over a 120mm any day (things like the H100, etc).

And I agree that the DVD writer - while not necessarily necessary anymore with Microsoft shipping Windows 10 on USB drives - might not be necessary but is a convenience to have. There is a 240mm variant of the H100i - the H110i, but I would go with air over liquid any day of the week.
