Where I work are several older PCs that were taken out of service & replaced with Dell Optiplex 7020s. One of the unit was a local build with the following components:
Foxconn MCP61P mobo
AMD Athlon X2 250 CPU
In-Win Power Man IP-S350CQ2-0 350 watt power supply
Asus EN8400GS Silent/P/512/M/A video card
3GB DDR3 Kimgstpn KVR133D3N9 RAM (2+1 - weird, huh?)
Seagate Barracuda ST500DM002 HDD
Lite-on DVD
The case is black with 120mm fan, and yellow-green spring clamps for the drive cage and removing front bezel. I could find no manufacturer anywhere. I'd add pix but can't seem to find out how.

Would this unit be worth trying to get as a spare machine just for web use, word processing, and other light duty? If so, any guess as to a fair price?

Solution
As above, maybe $50. And then only if you're willing to put in time to bring it back up to snuff.
Take it apart and clean the gunk out, reinstall the OS, stuff like that.
2+1 for memory is surprisingly common among OEM computers, especially laptops. It is less than ideal, but it's not a huge deal.

Adding pictures: You need to upload it to some image upload site. Then, you type this, switching insert image url here with the image's URL:

[ img ]insert image URL here[/img]
Just remove the spaces from the [ img ].
I agree with geofelt.
