Hi everyone, i'm looking to build a PC for my friend, and i'm unsure of how to go about it. I've tried intensively to build one that is high-end but in the price range, but my efforts have proved fruitless.

The build is aimed to run games at max settings, and my friend is looking to not overclock.

Attempted build: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/Qy8FLk

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor

CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler

Motherboard: MSI H87-G43 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

SSD: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB Superclocked ACX Video Card

Case: NZXT H440 (Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case

PSU: XFX XTR 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 OEM (64-bit)

Sound Card: Creative Labs Z PCIe 24-bit 96 KHz Sound Card

Network Adapter: Asus PCE-AC68 802.11a/b/g/n/ac PCI-Express x1 Wi-Fi Adapter

Monitor: Asus VX248H 60Hz 24.0" Monitor

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

You really don't need a sound card if your just a regular gamer or even a ''hardcore gamer'' the sound quality from the motherboard is good enough. If you produce music and stuff than i would recommend a sound card otherwise it is just a waste of money. An SSD is a good addition to a PC, you don't need one but it can speed up things alot, like booting into windows or loading games. Most people just put their OS on the SSD and a few of their most played games. The other stuff goes onto the regular HDD.

I removed the sound card, and added an SSD (250GB Samsung 850 Series) Those drives have nice reviews and performance.

Got this suggestion

A few notes on your build: The motherboard is H87 instead of the newer H97, There is a GTX760 instead of the newer GTX960. And the PSU is overkill. And a sound card isn't required it is already integrated in the motherboard. You should only include one if he needs a dedicated one.

And if you aren't overclocking than an aftermarket CPU cooler isn't required, the stock one will do just fine.

Thanks a lot for the info!
I would like to ask a few questions:
Would a sound card make for higher quality sound?
and wouldn't a SSD (for essential stuff) and a HDD (for games and such) be better? I'm not too knowledgeable about this, but this is the case for my PC.

Your information was very helpful! I think I have an idea of what build is suited for him now.
Thanks a ton!
