Hello,

I just decided to download AS-SSD to compare the speeds of my new SSD to the old one I had. My old SSD is a Kingston v300 120GB SSD, and my new one is a Samsung 850 evo.

I get around 500 MB/s read and write on the new Samsung, but I'm only getting about 80-90 MB/s Write (and around 500 MB/s read) on my old Kingston. Even my WD Blue 1 TB HDD has over 170 MB/s write.

Any suggestions on what could be causing the low write speeds?

Hi Starfire1337,
I'm Jewel with Kingston US Technical Support and would like to offer some assistance. The 120GB V300 should perform at 180MB/s Read and 133MB/s Write or better when tested with AS SSD. Since you are getting about 500MB/s read and 80MB/s write there is a discrepancy with the write speed. There are several different factors that could be effecting the write speed such as the partition alignment, the amount of free space on the drive, file system errors, the SATA drivers, etc. So to figure this out I have a few questions:
How much free space is available on the SSD?
What is the make/model of the computer/motherboard the SSD is installed in?
Which SATA chipset driver is being used?
Are the SATA ports set to AHCI mode...
