I have a 1tb Toshiba harddrive that comes with password encryption software. I installed the software and added a password on my laptop and it works fine, I get a prompt for a password.
when it is plugged into a different laptop, it wont ask for the password! it asks to be initialised! if I take the password off it works just fine. If I install the password software on the new laptop it also works but I cant go around installing this software on every computer/laptop!!
can anyone help??

You need the encryption software on every device you're going to use the HDD with.

There's not really any way around this, unless you only use Windows and use Bitlocker (and even then, I think the home versions don't support bitlocker).

Usually, these kinds of things include an installer (or in some cases, a version that can be run without being installed) on a non-encrypted part of the drive.
