I'm just looking to buy a xbox 360 controller for my pc. I'm checking if this would work with windows 8.1 (might be a knock-off):

or

I don't want to be scamed like with a wii controller I bought for emulating and it didnt work on pc, because it was a knock-off.

I have tried non oem controllers and sometimes they require button mapping and games don't always recognize them

this is the one I use for RPG games and it works flawlessly

I've used an Xbox 360 afterglow controller, wired 360 controller and wireless 360 controller with usb receiver. All of those have worked fine for me. Only issue I have with the wired afterglow controller is it doesn't stay lit up the whole time but all buttons and controls work fine with no mapping needed. I would hit up gamestop for the afterglow or a used Microsoft branded 360 controller. If you get the wired one its plug and play, if you get the wireless one you'll need the USB wireless receiver I got mine on ebay for $10 or so.

I am yet to have a single issue, just plug and play so far with everything, as much as I love my 360 controller, I don't think I will ever touch it again, with the controller working on pc via the charge and play kit, and the streaming the xbox as well as the new backwards compatibility they are adding so the 360 games work on the one. poor 360 :(
