The additional video memory comes in handy for additional texture effects (AA, motion blur, mods, etc.) as well as for multi-monitor setups. Your 960 is a great card, but it isn't guaranteed to be able to handle max settings on the most demanding games especially at that frame rate. If you're committed to wanting that quality, it would be better to hold of purchasing a card until you can get a 970 w/ 4GB of video memory. I have a superclocked 4GB 770 which is similar in performance to a 960 - I mostly play BF, Hardline and Skyrim: all of them at High settings and I do find some maps and situations where I get a drop in frames because of the background actions and effects. Fire and moving water in particular are performance killers and my FPS fluctuates as such. It's not a bad experience by any means, it's just something you have to choose whether you want to have the highest settings and background effects or if you want a smoother gameplay experience. Your call and it's your money, but if I were in your shoes I would go overboard rather than having buyers remorse. Again, it depends on how demanding the titles you play are and what mods you want to run.
