Somehow I managed to install windows 8.1 on this thing and set the whole computer up before realizing something was wrong. I've installed a number of programs and now suddenly it basically refuses to write anything to disk. It doesn't even seem to be a problem consistently, but it just hangs whenever I try to run system benchmarks on the drive through the Samsung Magician app. I first noticed this problem after installing steam and starting game downloads. Steam would download a couple megabytes of data and then stop while it spent five to ten minutes trying to write that data to disk (it literally said in the corner it was "writing data to disk").

Sooooo- does anyone know if there is anything I can do to fix this? Could this be the consequence of a faulty install? Some missing update? The firmware on the SSD says its up to date. Is this drive just broken?

If nobody else has any suggestions my next step is to go find a usb stick to install the samsung magician secure erase boot thingy on. I was told that if the drive fails that it is pretty much guaranteed to be dead.

I just have no clue how this thing is performing so poorly yet somehow managing to still run.

You have a very high CRC Error Count which means data is being corrupted somewhere between your disk and the motherboard controller. Usually this points to a bad or improperly connected sata cable. I would try a different sata input on your board or replace the sata cable. The rest of the info in that window you posted is normal.

I actually had this problem with my 850 Evo. When I reinstalled it in a new build I never had the problem again so it must have been the board or the cable I was using.
