So currently my computer has a 450w powersupply and a very well used 650 ti boost and its slowly dying. I know I will need an upgrade soon to play games like star citizen and boost the games i currently play like BF4 PS2 and day z. I am looking at the gtx 960 or 970 and possibly getting 4 more gb or ram to get my comps ramp to 12gb total. I also know i need at least a 600w power supply. I also am thinking of getting 4gb of memory on the graphics card if i can get a good brand for the right price. I am starting work soon part time and minimum wage and i will fully decide on my purchase after i get my first paycheck. Anyways im thinking of the graphics card and psu to be around $350 and with the extra memory maybe $400 but I may change my mind. Anyways f you have any recomnendations for either of these items or any packages pleas post them below. Thanks!

Hello.

What is the rest of your specs?

First, you don't need 600w+ to feed single gpu such as 960/970. Quality 500w+ unit will be enough for your needs. What is your current PSU?

PSU tier list : http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html
Any tier 1/2 unit is worth consideration.

Second, 8gb ram is enough for modern gaming, there will be no difference with 12gb (for gaming).

There is no guarantee your current memory kit will work properly with another 4gb stick, be sure they have same timings//speed/voltage. The DRAM that goes into a package has been tested to work together.
Great read about ram : http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ddr-dram-myths,4155.html#p5

by the way this http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.2378603 is the same cost as this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487076 id love the 970 with 4gb of memory over the 960 but i need the powersupply upgrade.... if theres any other options that you guys can find that would be great
update-
i am trying to decide between a 4g model of the 960 or 970. the 960 with a powersupply will allow me to get it sooner but the 970 will make me wait a couple extra months possibly till christmas. is the wait worth it? is there anything new coming out that may drop prices or be a better option?
