If I have a Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H motherboard, can I install a EVGA GeForce GTX 680 SC Signature 2?

Site with compatibility:

http://www.pc-specs.com/mobo/GigaByte/GigaByte_GA-880GM-UD2H/179

On the above link it says my mobo can have a Nvidia GTX 680 card, but I don't really know why there are so many different versions, EVGA, MSI, ASUS, etc. And I don't know if my MOBO would support a Super Cloacked card like this one. Any help? I don't know much about this stuff.

Thanks

I assume you game at 1080p. The GTX 680 is an old card. Are you buying used? If not, the R9-280, R9-285, GTX 960 are all better balanced cards for the PhII X4 965. Even the R9-270X would be nice. Any should allow max settings in SC2 at 1080p.

I don't really know the model, but I do know it's a 1,000 Watts one.

I have a Phenom II X4 965 CPU.
12 GBs of RAM.
and I currently have a RADEON HD 5500 GPU.

I had some guy assemble the PC with these specifications back in 2010 and it's time to upgrade it a bit.

Thanks!

Assuming the PSU isn't an el-cheapo, that is way more than enough. You'd have that base covered. The CPU is marginal for that power card, but not enough bottleneck to make it a deal breaker. But there will be some CPU bottleneck in some games trying to keep up with a card of that class.

Honestly, I only play StarCraft 2. All I want is to be able to play it on ULTRA definition. If you think I'm going overkill with this GPU, I'd be happy to hear some more inexpensive options. I'm not interested in playing any other games, I only care about SC2. =)

Thanks!

Thank you for the suggestions. Are you positive they would physically fit in my MotherBoard?

I've been using this website for reference for the past week and I don't see any of the GPUs you're mentioning.

This is my Mobo: http://www.gigabyte.com.mx/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3635#ov

Thank you again for everything.

Lol... that list is so old and incomplete, I would not even use it. Your board has a PCIe x16 slot. Any PCIe X16 card will fit in any PCIe x16 slot. The only possible issue would be if your case was a slim line that required low profile cards.
