Can I backup only c:\Windows without losing any of my HDD's data?

I have just installed a modified version of Windows 7 Ultimate 64bits on a small partition and I'd like to back it up so that all my installed programs remain installed and working on my main disk/partition. Then I'll delete my small partition and extend the main one.

Is it possible? How do I go about it?

Thanks in advance! :)

Restoring that image to a partition will wipe whatever is on that partition.
If you restore that image to a partition containing a whole different OS, and that different OS also has applications installed and associated....no, that's not going to work.

You can't take OS B and...

I know I can do that with Acronis for example but I'm afraid that when I restore that image on my main partition/drive all my data will be automatically deleted. I just want to restore this version on this little partition onto my main drive/partition and have everything working normally without losing any data.

You can't take OS B and apply it over OS A, and still have everything from OS A working. Doesn't work like that.
