I just got the Western Digital Black 1TB HDD for 60$, and I have heard from many places that this drive is much noisier than the WD Blue drive. I plan on switching to the Blue instead, but was wondering if there really was a difference in sound levels between the two. I don't plan to do any heavy application/gaming on my Black, since i have an SSD for that. My build features quiet parts and i dont want a loud HDD ruining that, so is it good that I switch to the Blue or should i keep with the Black?

Solution
Black is a bit better performer with 2 processors vs the blue single processor. You are going to hear the drive no matter what. You can always do what I did. I went to SSD only. My computer is nearly silent now.

SSD's are costly, so I still want a HDD for mass storage. I havn't tested the black yet, since I want to be able to return it if i decide so (breaking the seal, that is). I just wanted to know if there was any big difference between the noise levels of the Black and Blue HDD.
