Hey guys, I just recently got a old 2008 HP Pavillion M9500y. It's not in the best condition, I had to replace the Hard Drive with a PNY 128GB SSD. Before it was given to me it was damaged during a storm and the Windows Vista installation broke, I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate onto the computer. When turning the computer on there is a loud clicking sound, I think it is coming from the heat sink but I am not sure. I don't know if the heat sink is original, it's a Cooler Master one. The mother board idles at 100C, I'm not sure why. Any and all help would be appreciated.

Could be reading wrong. Overvoltage (like in a storm) often damages temperature sensors, so its highly likely its just showing a wrong temperature. But I would verify with an IR thermometer. Could also be the program you use reading a wrong value.
But even if those values are wrong, you could still have a problem, because safety functions would throttle or turn things off, since they see that high fake value.
Is everything working normally besides this?

The clicking could be the fan on the heatsink (or any other fan). Just hold it with your finger when you turn on, so it cant start turning. If it still clicks, its something else. Might be the HDD, if you still have on in there, which would be normal.

I have had a BSoD while updating windows, then the update reverted itself. Other then that I was able to play light games like Minecraft and Kerbal Space Program without any issues.
