I have a gigabyte z87x-d3h mobo. Its currently got 2/4 ram spots filled. I took apart an old computer and found 2 more sticks of 4gb ram. Figured i may aswell get the old ram in there if the spots are unused.
The new ram is g.skill ripjaws.
Can i just turn my current pc off, insert new ram, turn back on and go? Or is there going to be some painful bios etc etc etc...
I don't really know much of anything.

2) current mobo w/ old ram installed: http://i.imgur.com/pNS68T9.jpg
ps: why have they used slots 2 and 4 instead of 1 and 2 for the current ram???
