Uninterrupted power supply. I bought this one a few days ago.http://m.newegg.com/Product?itemNumber=N82E16842102133

My question is, is it OK to power this thing off and unplug it everyday? We have had thunderstorms everyday. So I usually power everything down and unplug it when the storms hit. Will this harm the unit? Or more important, will this harm my computer, shutting it down everyday multiple times.

Solution
An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is meant to be plugged in 24/7 even during thunderstorms. During a power interruption event it may take several hours for the batteries to recharge back to full charge when the power grid resumes operation.

I use the 1500VA model of that UPS. I have used it for the past few years and it has always been left plugged in even during the many thunderstorms that have passed through here. I've never had a problem with it.

I've been using my PC on UPS for about 3-4 years now. While I've never had thunderstorms during the specified time period. I power my UPS off and on, even unplug it at least once per day and I've never run into any issues.
As for the thunderstorms, it'd be better to keep the UPS (and of course, the PC) off to remain on the safe side. UPS will protect the PC from any electric surges but I'm not sure if the UPS itself will be safe during thunderstorms.

I didn't mean to select ffg7 as the best answer. I am using my old phone and clicked the wrong button.
I was trying to reply to him, I called cyber power and they said this ups does indeed offer surge protection.

I have that same UPS on my gaming rig (and it's monitor and ethernet hubs) I am in a very rural area so power delivery can get funky. Right now we're in the annual monsoon season and I keep mine plugged in all the time to keep my system running as much as possible (running SETI when not gaming). Except for a prolonged power outage the other night (8+ hours), most of our power events are short term so the UPS keeps everything running. I'm going on nearly three years with that UPS now.
