How can I use my apple ear buds as a mic?

I need to use as crappy mic for right now and the apple ear buds is all I got I have a ASRock Z97 as my mobo but I also have these Altec lansing speakers I just want to use the apple ear buds as my mic how do I do that? Also the Altec Lansing speakers don't have a mic jack but my computer does.

assuming the apple earbuds are the version with the microphone built in and a 4pole connector (3 seperate metal bands + tip on plug)....

a 4pole 3.5mm to 2x 3 pole 3.5mm (mic+headphone) adapter.
sometimes called phone headset to pc adapter.

just plug them into the microphone jack in the back of your PC.

You can even use the actual ear piece as a microphone. it's not very good but it works.
