Hello,

I recently have had several problems with one of my HP PCs(Model: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04291966). I tried to install a driver for my PS3 controllers but ran into a bootloop upon restart. I attempted to re-install windows with the recovery partition as it is a UEFI based system and I really don't have much experience working with them as they have given me trouble in the past. However, I made the mistake of leaving a PS3 controller plugged in during installation and the installer froze on the "installing devices" screen. I had no choice but to pull the plug. At this point I could no longer boot into the recovery partition and was forced to install windows via dvd. (Sorry for all of this background but I thought it may possibly be relevant)

This is where things get really bad. After booting into the installer, Windows told me that it could not be installed onto the disk as it was of GPT partition style due to it being an UEFI machine. I mistakenly followed this guide:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/186875-uefi-unified-extensible-firmware-interface-install-windows-7-a.html.

I ended up deleting the System, MSF, and primary partition and my problem was not solved. I searched all over but none of the guides seem relevant to my situation as the machine is absolutely not cooperating. The windows installer will not detect my keyboard and neither will the the UEFI(which clearly states "keyboard error" upon boot up). I can no longer even enter the UEFI settings for that matter so I have no way of turning back to legacy bios mode.

At this point, I am considering calling the manufacturer for restore disks but I am holding off to see if I can find a better solution.

Thank you very much for your help and time,
Safa

Thanks a lot!

listen to darkbreeze, i was halfway done typing almost identical suggestion when i noted his post.

you need to install to a fresh hard drive which means deleting the partitions and reformatting the drive you have, it's the only way around the mess you have going on right now.
