That is a common misconception.

1. Getting silent fans don't do anything.
2. ON top of that, you lose performance because they run slower and push less air.

It is always a trade.

I either recommend the D15 or The Phantekc TCP14e

As an owner of both I will happily report that the exact opposite is true. A decent Liquid cooling solution will be much quieter and more efficient at cooling.

Depends on what air cooler we are talking about as well.

An antec 650 kuhler vs a hyper 212 is a no brainer. 212 wins in thermals and noise levels.

Thanks for the help guys, really appreciate it. One last question though, does anyone have any opinions on the H100i GTX? I would buy silent fans so noise wouldn't be an issue.
